Why is hemp seed oil good for dogs and cats?

Hemp seed oil is rich in two essential fatty acids: Linolenic acid (Omega-3) and Linoleic acid (Omega-6). Being polyunsaturated fats, these are not produced naturally by your pet’s body (or even ours!) and is best to be included in their diet.

Our Hemp Seed Oil for Pets is cold pressed straight from the hemp seed. It has no added fillers or artificial preservatives, making it a healthy omega oil feed supplement for dogs and cats.

How to use

How to give hemp seed oil to dogs and cats

Hemp seed oil can be taken daily, as part of a healthy, balanced diet. We suggest starting with a small amount of hemp seed oil added to your pets feed, then build up over time. By including it into your pet feed, this can provide the ultimate itch and pain relief for dogs and cats. Note: It is not recommended to cook or heat oil as it may turn rancid.

Check the chart below for suggested feeding amounts, or as directed by a veterinarian. Can be used in combination with all Fortunate Paws products. This is a guide only and amounts may vary according to your pet's size, age and activity levels. We suggest feeding 0.5ml per 100g of feed.

Pet size - Volume (ml)

Very Small (<5 kg) - 0.5 ml

Small (5 kg-10 kg) - 0.5 ml - 1.0 ml

Medium (10 kg – 25 kg) - 1.0 ml - 2.5 ml

Large (25 kg – 50 kg) - 2.5 ml – 5.0 ml

Very Large (>50 kg) - 6.0ml

Taco’s skin allergies

My dog Taco has got very bad skin allergies so that’s why I use this to stop him from scratching all the time as it works sometimes but unfortunately it does not help as he still scratches but I shall still use this product as it does help a little.

Hemp Oil tor Dogs

I find the oil easy to give my Cavoodle, on her food. I haven't noticed much difference, where I wanted it to work. She is a nervous little one and this is what I needed something for. She is 3.5yrs old now and thought she mighy have settled down by now. I will continue to give it to her

Hi Lourin, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with our Hemp Oil We’re glad to hear it’s easy to give on her food, though we completely understand your hopes in wanting to calm her nerves. Every dog is a little different, and sometimes it can take some trial to find the right fit.

As you mention she is nervous, you may find our Mellowpet Omega Drops a better option, as they’re designed specifically to support calm behaviour and ease stress.

Zuuga and Hemp Seed Oil

Zuuga is our 11yr old male Labrador who has suffered with some arthritis in his shoulders as hes gotten older. This winter had been tough with colder than expected temperatures, Zuuga was finding it hard, especially getting up and moving about slowly and a generally low mood. We started giving him FP Hemp Seed Oil, within days there was a notable difference in his capability and demeanour. Now 4-5 weeks in Zuuga is a different Doggo able to get up with ease, happy feet have returned and playful again, more comfortable movement and far happier Doggo. 1-2 teaspoons in his food daily and its worked wonderfully. We highly recommend this product, speedy delivery and exactly what it said it was. The dropper doesn't work well so we just use a teaspoon for measurement, other than that we cant recommend the product enough. We will be continuing with the treatment. Thanks Fortunate Paws.

Great results for pain

My beaglier has suffered hip pain for years and has been on a prescribed medication that she had to have blood tests every 6 months to check her liver. I changed to hemp oil and she has no pain and no more expensive vet drugs. I am actually amazed at the results. She is so happy
